President Trump demanded it and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell requested it of his colleagues and both got their wishes today when the Senate voted 51:50, with the tie-breaking vote being cast by Vice President Pence, to begin discussions on what an Obamacare repeal would look like and do for the country and what or how it will be replaced.
This vote was controversial, but probably necessary in order for all members of the Senate – both Republicans and Democrats – to fully communicate the wishes and hopes of their constituents and give everyone time to figure out a viable alternative to Obamacare.
